Kevin Monds
keyboard & vocals
After leaving Pampa, Tx, Kevin attended Wayland Baptist University for two years as a music education major. He decided to forego the rest of his education in light of an opportunity that would prove to be more instructional than any classroom atmosphere could afford him. Hearing God's call to minister through music, Kevin joined Missions Live in 1997, a music and drama group based out of Alpharetta, Ga. Previously supported by the North American Mission Board, Missions Live performed at over 200 sites, some of which included the Texas and the Tennessee Youth Evangelism Conferences of 1997. They performed alongside MercyMe and Newsong and others. They have also opened for Dave Edwards. After traveling with the group for 8 months, Kevin felt called elsewhere.
He joined Eternity in 1998, a vocal performance/worship group based out of Round Rock, Tx. It was in this group that Kevin first met Michael. For 1 year and 8 months, Kevin toured with Eternity at over 350 sites, performing for such events as the Baptist General Convention of Texas and Hot Hearts in San Antonio (performing alongside such artists as Jami Smith and Reality Check). They have had some radio airplay and TV exposure, and have led many revivals, opening for Ken Freeman, Bill Gravell, and others.
Kevin left Eternity in 1999. Though it was the end of Eternity for Kevin, it was just the beginning for In the Red. Kevin met Blake Atwood in the fall of 1999, at Crestview Baptist Church in Georgetown, Tx. The two have led worship, with the help of some wonderful students, for the youth at that church for the last year.
